Giving Children Warmth

Do you have spare bits of wool and a little time? Help Charlie, from Freeport, Maine make hats and blanket squares for the children of Afghanistan.

Charlie's project is in conjunction with an organization called Help Afghan Children. See their website for more info. One of the directors told Charlie that the hats and blanket are truly appreciated and they often receive pictures and stories from the children.

Want to help?

All items must be made of wool, no synthetics, please.
Squares can be from 6"x6" to 8"x8".
Hats should be any children's size.
Be creative! You can knit, crochet or weave.

Just want to empty your stash of small balls of yarn? Charlie will accept donations of yarn as well.

You can donate used hats, but they too must be wool, clean and in good condition.

When you're finished, there will be a drop box in the Freeport Middle School office.

Charlie will have a table at the Maine Fiber Frolic in June. You can always email Charlie directly.

Hats and squares are great summer projects since they are small.
